Jena recently received advanced training in Chicago, IL for threading. Jena is excited to bring this new service to Ella’s Salon.
What is threading?
Threading is an ancient hair-removal technique, practiced for centuries in Asia and the Middle East. It is the best alternative to waxing and tweezing especially for sensitive skin. Unlike waxing, threading does not remove a layer of skin, which can leave the skin susceptible to sun damage and breakouts.
How does threading work?
A threading specialist takes a thin cotton thread and twists it into a double strand, which then is swept along the skin. With a rhythmic movement the unwanted hairs are secured in the thread and lifted from the follicle.
How long does the hair need to be?
Unlike waxing the hair needs to be just above the skin. With waxing you need to allow the hair to be at least 1/4inch long.
Is it ok to thread if you have sensitive skin?
Yes! Threading is the best option for sensitive skin. Especially those who use any products with retin-A or Accutane. If you typically break out from waxing or have tearing skin from waxing, threading is for you.
